Welcome to South Shreveport Animal Hospital

South Shreveport Animal Hospital is a progressive, full-service small animal facility staffed by a team of animal lovers who want to partner with you to keep your pets healthy and happy throughout their lives. Our team’s combined knowledge and compassion, backed by our cutting-edge technology, creates a powerful mix that brings our patients and their families an incredible visit every single time. Pet parents come to us because we truly care about the well-being of your pet. We listen carefully to what you have to say, and we treat your pet as if it were one of our own.

Founded by Dr. Gordon Calahan in 1985, South Shreveport Animal Hospital has been providing quality medical, surgical, and dental services to Shreveport, Bossier City, Benton, Keithville, and the surrounding communities of Louisiana. We strive to provide compassionate, preventative care with the best diagnostic tools available to us. A partial list of our services includes dental care, digital radiography, treatment of ear ailments, in-clinic diagnostics, laser surgery, orthopedic surgery, preventative care, and wellness visits.

In 2005, we completed a large expansion project that doubled the size of the hospital. At that time, we added a full-scale luxury kennel equipped to suit all of your pet’s boarding needs. Our facilities are furnished with the latest diagnostic instruments, including digital and dental radiography, a video scope to assist in treating ear conditions, an ultrasound machine, and we are the only hospital in the area with a ton open, an instrument that allows us to check for and monitor glaucoma cases.

Dr. Calahan and Dr. Panos have extensive experience treating all types of small animal diseases and conditions. They regularly perform both soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries as well as dental surgeries. They also routinely treat issues, including allergies, skin infections, and parasite prevention. Additionally, Dr. Calahan has experience performing artificial inseminations.

At South Shreveport Animal Hospital, our philosophy is to be proactive and prevent illness through preventative health care and to treat acquired conditions with the most appropriate techniques and equipment. We are proud of the care and quality of treatment that we offer pets at our hospital. If you are looking for an experienced, friendly, and caring veterinarian clinic for your pet in Shreveport, we hope you will stop by and visit us today.
