Surgery
The veterinarians at South Shreveport Animal Hospital bring extensive knowledge and expertise in a wide variety of surgical procedures to pet owners in the Shreveport area. A partial listing of routine and complex soft tissue surgeries that we perform includes biopsies, excisions of abnormal growths, removal of foreign materials causing obstruction in the digestive tract, and removal of bladder and urethral obstructions. We also have the expertise and specialty instrumentation needed to complete ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) repairs, Luxating Patella Corrections, and broken leg repairs. Additionally, we utilize laser surgery when it is the most feasible surgical option.
Our doctors will conduct an evaluation to determine if surgery is the best alternative for your pet’s condition. If surgery is deemed necessary, you can rest assured that our experienced veterinarians and staff will take the utmost care of your pet and treat it as our own. Since every pet is unique, we complete an assessment prior to surgery so that we can screen for any abnormalities or conditions that may be problematic.
It’s very common for people to be concerned about their pet undergoing anesthesia, especially when their older pet needs a procedure. To ensure your pet’s safety, we will use the information from our evaluations and take into consideration your pet’s species, breed, age, and health to create an anesthetic protocol best suited to your pet.
Once the surgery is complete, your pet will be brought out of anesthesia and our staff will continue to monitor vital signs and pain levels. We will keep your pet on site where our veterinarian can supervise the recovery until your pet is well enough to go home with you. All surgeries are followed up with a post-surgical examination and rehabilitation if needed.
Whether your pet is of the age to be spayed or neutered or needs a different surgical procedure, our doctors and staff are here for you. South Shreveport Animal Hospital serves the surgical needs of pets in Shreveport, Bossier City, Benton, Keithville, and the surrounding areas.
