Brooke has worked with us for 16 years (since May 1998) and is our jack-of-all-trades. She began as a veterinary assistant and worked her way up to a full time Veterinary Technician. She is currently enrolled in a certified veterinary technician program. Brooke and husband Clay love to go hunting, fishing, and boating during their time off together. They have two Rat Russell terriers named “Scooter” & “Daisy”, a terrier mix named “Kloe”, a mix breed named “Tinker”, and a Chihuahua named “Cheech” that was a rescue.
Laura has been with us since October 2009 and is originally from Oregon. She has many hopes for the future, and has recently been promoted to Vet Tech. Laura has two dogs at home, “Sargent” a Hound mix , “Chief” a Pitbull mix, and four rescued cats named “Frenchie”, “Kernel”, “Hoss” and “Enola”. She has a strong work-ethic. At home Laura really enjoys reading, making jewelry and other crafty endeavors.
Katie has been with us since March 2013. When she first started with us, she was a vet assistant and has since moved up. She is a certified dog trainer. In her spare time, she works at a Longhorn Cattle Ranch in Stonewall, La, rides horses, and takes her dogs to the park. She has four dogs, “Penelope” an Australian Shepherd, “Aries” a Husky mix, “Rebel” a Pit bull/Terrier mix, and “Axel” a Rottweiler. She also has two cats “Giovanni” a Persian, and “Rizzo” a rescued Domestic shorthair. Katie has a passion for creatures, furry and not so furry. One of her pets including a Red Tail Boa named “Dakota” who is about 4′ long. She has volunteered for Louisiana State Animal Response Team in 2012 when people and their pets from South Louisiana came to the Shreveport/Bossier area for refuge from the hurricanes. In the future Katie hopes to go to college to become a vet and open up her own clinic.
Tiffany started working for us in August 2005. She started working as a Vet Assistant and is now up front as a receptionist entering her ninth year with us. She currently holds a degree in Cosmetology. She enjoys assisting clients when they call in with a need. During her spare time she enjoys hanging out with her family.
Bailey has been with us since September 2008 and this will be her sixth year here. Bailey worked as our Kennel Manager for over a year and was also a full time kennel assistant before that. She loves spending quality time with pets during their play time sessions. She has a Malanois mix named “Miss-E” that Dr. Calahan rescued. During her spare time she enjoys catching up on a good book and spending time with her husband Peter and their little girl Sutton.
Rachel began working with us in November 2009 and is originally from Oregon. She started here as a Kennel Assistant and has always taken great pride in her job and was promoted to Kennel Manager. She is now one of the friendly faces you see as Receptionist. Rachel fell in love with her job immediately and her favorite thing about working at SSAH is that “even on a day when everything is going wrong, I walk into our clinic and there is always a dog that puts a smile on my face!” She has one dog at home named Detective, a brown chihuahua mix that was a rescue (he came to the clinic with a piece of floating bone in his mandible and after surgery, settled into a happy life). In her spare time, Rachel adores reading Nicholas Sparks novels, watching Animal Cops Houston on Animal Planet, or catching up on the latest CSI.
Kennel Managers (In charge of our luxury boarding facility)
Daniela was hired in 2013 as a vet assistant and was recently promoted to Kennel Manager. She is originally from Buffalo, NY and moved here with her fiance’ in the Summer of 2012. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Media Production, but has always had a love for animals and enjoys working with them every day. Daniela has a Lab mix named “Mac.” When she isn’t woroking, she loves spending time with her fiance’ and her dog “Mac.”
